Somehow I Survived 5 Years – AKA Bookwyrming Thoughts is Officially Halfway to a Decade

five years bookwyrming thoughts

Ish me. Sophia. Or Hannah. Or Hannah Sophia. Whichever makes the boat stay upright and not causes anyone to fall over face-first into the water unless you have done me wrong, in which so case, please, fall into the water. Did that sound too cruel? Anelise here to hijack… you can never be too cruel when it comes to torture… Umm… *hides*

Let me take a moment out of my day to say, “I’M FLIPPING ANCIENT TODAY.” And I’m working as well, which is ten times the bummer factor.

Honestly, when I look back at the three* blogoversary posts that I did, I want to hide in a hole somewhere and never come out**.

*Three posts = 1, 2, 3, oops, forgot about 4.
** Okay, but this is the scenario when I look back at old posts or find that my old posts are still getting views.

But here we are today, and on this day in 2012, little high school freshman me went off and away from her gaming blog, making a blog known as Bookwyrming Thoughts. Considering the fact my first blog only lasted 5 months, I don’t even know if this is an accomplishment or not since I’m a smol (medium?) little bean in the ever-changing blogging world. Haha, I think five years is a big accomplishment!

Let’s Travel Back to 2012 When I Was NOT the College Bean I Am Today

I’m in college and OMG HOW DID I EVEN SURVIVE DURING THOSE PERILOUS TIMES? Easy, you didn’t. I went back through the few blogoversary posts I did manage to accomplish and oh dear, I never included stats. Ever. So um… obviously I must include it this year because 1) it’s a big year (I mean, half a decade!), 2) admit it: you’re as curious as I am. Lol, I’m kinda curious now too…

Random Things Of Note:

  • I thought indenting was perfectly okay and normal and well… it’s still there. lol
  • Apparently, a design backfired on me. Ha… whoops.

November 2014:

Followers: I give up, so I’m just going to skip this. Have you ever taken notes of followers? Haha
Also no… I’ve never really taken notes…

  • At this point, I’ve learned not to indent. It took me almost two years.
  • I’m not soloing!
  • Um… I passed 500 posts, and I never noticed.

  • I think I might have gotten my blogging voice then.
  • Fangirl Friday began this year. (I never even noticed. Wow.)

  • Anelise joins us, who will later be replacing Ella 😭 (The crying is the Ella leaving part, not Anelise joining). I would hope so! Glad I joined but it’s always sad to see another go 🙁
  • I forgot the blogoversary/blogiversary/blogversary (really there are so many ways to write this, my head spins around and my neck hurts from it all) post. I had my reasons. 😭 I’m sure you did… That’s all right though! Life gets in the way (literally my excuse for everything #oops).

  • I think I’m coming back to the blogging routine, but I really suck at time management. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we all sucked at time management. We also all suck at getting things done on time #procrastinationforthewin
  • Holy monkeys we’re almost to half a million views. Let me take a step back from this and breathe. 😱😱😱
  • Elena decided to kidnap my soul after us discussing whether or not we should give her the guest contributor badge, so I’m now on The Novelistics as well, so if you want more of my shenanigans, follow me there as well.

This Is Where Sophia Shoves Delicious Food At Everyone Because She Can and She Will – Thank You To…

Did you just call people food? I mean, if you’re a dragon that’s fine but if you’re a cannibal… *runs away*

Yey! Now we can get to the fun part, where I promptly pull out food from thin air to shove at all the people who have made this wonderful, wonderful blogging life possible. I’m not a cannibal. Accusations, Anelise.

Ella (Once Upon a Bookish Time/@abookishtime) – For sticking with me for over 2 years and being the very first co-blogger here. I know I’m a very quiet person who doesn’t initiate conversations much because I suck at it, but thank you for being a wonderful human being. *squishy hugs*

Lupe (@catchingbookz) – For being a fabulous co-blogger who pretty much took over the blog most of the last year because of things… and being a phenomenal friend/sister from another mother. And for kidnapping my soul in sixth grade and not being tired of me even though I’m sure you are sometimes. I would be tired of me too.

Anelise (@UnwantedElf) – For being adorable and a fabulous addition even though sometimes you feel bad for not posting as often as you would like. It’s okay. I still love you as a co-blogger and the GIFs we share. <3 Aww thanks 🙂 Here’s a GIF for you:

online friends are real friends too
Okay, this isn’t the best GIF I’ve found, but it’s cute!

Roberta (Offbeat YA/@offbeatya) – For being one of my first followers? I think? Thank you for dealing with my shenanigans and sass and all the snarky, smart-ass self that I am. Also for introducing me to The Art of Escaping, which the rights got solddd. And uh… I think I forgot you once in a blogoversary post.

Nori (ReadWriteLove28/@readwritelove28) – For helping me launch Novel Newcomers my first year and hosting one of the best Twitter chats. Also as a general fabulous person overall.

Caroline (@carolinedmeek) and Olivia (@livtherog) – For allowing me to “wreak havoc” as the social media (manager?! o_o) even though I probably have no clue what I’m doing. Unfortunately, it looks like Project Canvas’s Twitter will be forever known as the writer who lost their pen. I do lose my pens. A LOT. *forever laughs* Same, although it’s with my pencils.

People I talk to on an occasional/often basis that I forgot the reason why but I’m adding you to this list for the sake of adding you on here: Mari // Kay // Cait // Tessa // Kelsey // Edward // CW

Everyone who visits/comments/interacts – I don’t know, but I probably wouldn’t be a happy blogger if I never got to interact with anyone because the blogging journey would be very lonely without people to shove books at/shoving books at me. All thy readers of this blog are awesome! Shoving books at people is a plus!

Chances are, I probably forgot someone as always. My memory isn’t helpful. 😭😭😭

There’s a lot of crying emojis going on here. Isn’t this supposed to be a happy celebration? Oh well, I guess it can sometimes get emotional *shrugs*

Whether you’ve been mentioned or not, thank YOU for making this possible. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’ve learned so much about myself throughout the past few years that I don’t think would have been possible if I just gave up blogging after a gaming blog began to feel like a chore. Whether I’m still here for the next milestone or not, I plan on making the most of it. 💞

But Isn’t There a Giveaway?

Because Let’s Be Honest: That IS the reason, right?
hAhA tOtAlLy *nervous laughter*

Tessa, Roberta, my co-bloggers and I had originally planned something because all of our blogoversaries fall around each and why not do something fun. Like the true procrastinators we were, we didn’t have enough time to develop a full plan so…

Fail. 😢 Maybe next year!

I probably could come up with something, but my budget is very low (boo), I just got a new phone that is unlocked so I can switch carriers (god, Sophia, why you gotta be so rude), and I don’t even know what to give away (even more boo). Books! Those are expensive…. I don’t know. swag? arcs? something remotely cool?

Ah well. There’s always next year. And then there’s always five years from now when we’re in the double digits if we all exist. No SoPhIa We’Ll AlL bE dEaD (yes, this is a sarcastic font… or is it?)

Or… or… I could be lying. You should eyeball my Twitter @HannahSophiaLin. Anything is fair game in the next 24 hours. 😏

Sophia and the awesome co-blogger who just hijacked this post, Anelise 🙂

Sophia started blogging in February 2012 for the hell of it and is surprisingly still around. She has a GIF for nearly everything, probably listens to too much K-Pop and is generally in an existential crisis of sorts (she's trying her best). In 2020, she graduated with a Bachelor's in Communications and minor in Women's Studies. More of her bookish reviews and K-pop Roundups can be found at The Arts STL.

Anelise is a complete weirdo who loves to read. Aside from reading, she loves to listen to and play music. One of her favorite quotes is “I’m young but I’m not stupid.” She is a former co-blogger of Bookwyrming Thoughts.
