Back when I read the book version of Insurgent, I started to dislike the entire trilogy – by Allegiant, I couldn’t care less about Tris and what happened to her. Yippee yay to whatever happened to Tris. Now what?
I, however, digress. (Please note that I was extremely sleepy while writing this weeks after I saw the movie and the review is indeed short… as all of my reviews have been lately… I guess this means it’s time for a new, modified version of mini reviews!)
Contrary to many book lovers, I thought Insurgent was pretty good. There is a lot of CGI involved throughout the movie and it doesn’t really follow the book in a way, but I just really liked the movie version of Insurgent and thought it was far better than the book (one of my friends says the same, but his opinion doesn’t count).
The second book didn’t sit as well with me as the first book did – Tris and Four argue way too much that it almost overshadowed the plot of the story. The movie version doesn’t really focus much on their relationship drama – it is much more on the overall plot of the entire series and continuing from Divergent. Much better in my opinion, but then again… it’s a matter of personal preference.
From the movie itself, I think Insurgent stands well on its own as a movie. But as a movie based off a book… not so much.
