A girl’s sweet sixteen party is supposed to be among the most memorable events of her life. But on the night of hers, Mercy Clare wakes in the waiting room of a hospital with no memory of how she got there. To make matters worse, she’s wearing something she’d never be caught dead in: her best friend Lyla’s clothes.

Mercy’s nightmare is just beginning. The doctor arrives to tell her that it’s she who lies in the hospital bed waiting to die. A trip to the bathroom confirms Mercy’s fears, as Lyla’s face stares back at her and Lyla’s curvy figure pokes through her tight clothes.

But finding out what’s really going on won’t be easy. Because if Mercy wants her body back, it might just cost her Lyla’s life.

Into the Dark was a very amazing book with a plot I’ve never read before. I’ve actually never heard of this book before I decided to read it. The plot sounded interesting and I loved the cover, so I tried it out and I’m glad I decided to read it.This book mainly follows a girl named Mercy when she wakes up in a hospital and… is apparently in her best friend’s body? What? (Mind officially blown.) Mercy learns that she’s something called a Breacher which is someone who lives forever by taking other people’s bodies. Kinda creepy if you ask me. Mercy is then thrust into a whole new world with Hunters, Breachers, and this thing called The Assembly. All Mercy wants is to get back to her body, but other people have different intentions with her…

There are PoV switches every few chapters or so, going between Mercy, Gage and Nathaniel (I think that’s all the people). I like that because with this book, having the point-of-view switches helps to understand what’s happening and why a little bit more. It’s also another way to get more information.

When I was reading this book, all I could think was, I love this! <3 Need to read more! I got into the book really quickly and immediately started loving it. When the book ended, all I could think of was that I needed more. Basically, I loved the book from start to finish.

I think the main reason I liked this book so much is because of the concept of this. You know, people taking other people’s bodies isn’t usually in the normal YA book, or fantasy book for that matter. This concept was foreign to me which made it so fascinating (if you know of a book with people being able to take over other people’s bodies, please let me know!).

I definitely cannot wait to read the sequel, Into the Light which comes out on August 23, 2016.
