weekly wrap up

Hello bookwyrms!

We’re trying this weekly wrap-up thing occasionally (if not every week) because well… why not? (Also I sometimes miss participating in The Sunday Post and doing posts other than bookish related.)

And to answer any questions about the new theme… we made the move from Blogger to WordPress and did very shiny things (this includes the smol little dragon in the header, the weekly wrap-up, and the revamped Fangirl Friday now Fandom Friday).

This dragon sums up our feelings sometimes. Or as Elena would say, the wrap-up is the after party, the dragon partied too hard and got too tired. (This is the cleaner version of her words, though.)

This Week’s Posts

Book Haul

Sophia

  • Fire and Bone by Rachel A. Marks (Review Copy) – This is pitched as “Gossip Girl meets Percy Jackson in the glitz and grit of LA” so I’m very curious what this will entail. Also Percy Jackson vibes in Hollywood? Um hello. Fire and Bone will a) be good, b) be bad or c) be as horrible as the worst of the worst DNFs.
  • Hullmetal Girls by Emily Skrutskie (Netgalley) – I read her debut novel and absolutely loved it, so I’m super excited to read her next novel. Plus SPACE. 😍😍😍

Lupe

  • Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi (Best thing I ever bought at B&N)- GUYS YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND! I dragged my poor mother to Barnes and Noble the day it was released. Have I mentioned that it was freezing that day? I feel bad for my mom for having to put up with my craziness.

The Reading Life

Sophia

I’m currently reading The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco and OMG IT IS SO SO SO GOOD. I think my legs would be kicking in excitement, but I would come across as crazy?

Lupe

You should have guessed by now that the book I’m reading is nonetheless Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi. I’m almost finished! It’s very intense with lots of plot twists. I seriously need the next book PRONTO!

Life

Sophia

It’s Spring Break for me! Hahaha, who I am kidding what is a break when you’re busy running around doing school related things. This week outside the blogging universe, I did midterms (back to back), worked, and took a mini break from reformatting all the blog posts before the move.

Oh, and sorry, New York. Missouri didn’t mean to take around two inches of snow and give you the rest… whoops.

Lupe

I’m also on Spring Break! I’m obsessed with Restore Me. What a shocker, right? Unlike Sophia, I only had two midterms this week, but I did get philosophy homework for spring break. Philosophy is no fun, no offense to philosophy majors.

Not related to books, but I’m also obsessed with my bullet journal! I’ve never been a fan of regular planners and thought I should give this a try. I don’t regret the choice whatsoever! It’s a way for me to be creative, get back in touch with my drawing skills, and have fun designing weekly and monthly templates!

Let’s Talk: What have you been up to this week? Are you reading any good books? (Are you like Sophia and currently screaming happily over it?) Have you gotten any good books?

Sophia has a GIF for nearly everything and is frequently in a Hogwarts House crisis. Unlike her personality in blog posts, she's a socially awkward recent college grad who majored in Communications. More of her bookish reviews can be found at The Arts STL.

  1. Aww the snoozy dragon is cute!!! Hope your books are good! The Heart Forger (AMAZING cover) and Restore me both look pretty awesome…

  2. This week has been a bit busy with work and preparation for the move but I’m excited nonetheless! I also switched over to MG reading-wise for a while because I’m starting to be a bit burnt out on YA and need some change. I’m currently reading Hello Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly and it’s SOOOO GOOOOOOD. Also I’m going to see Black Panther today!

  3. Sounds like you’ve both been busy. I still need to read the Shatter Me series – I’ll get there it’s just that my library doesn’t have them at all. Soooo I’d need to buy them when I eventually get round to doing that. The snoozy dragon is cute though. I loved philosophy when I was in school, but now I’m at college I have nothing to do with it since I’m taking a graphics course haha.

Hope you have a great week!

    • Ah, lucky! I have to take philosophy because I don’t want to deal with history or religion… or other classes that can be taken in place of philosophy.

Or I took it already. ๐Ÿ™

  4. I hope you both get to enjoy your Spring Break somewhat, even if you do still have to do some school things! Lupe – ooh you should share your bullet journal. I’m planning on showing off a bit of mine this coming Thursday. It’s not too fancy, but it’s a work in progress. hah

Bullet journals are so much fun! I get most of my inspirations off of Pinterest. Mine is sort of fancy, but then again I can get EXTRA sometimes. I will definitely share my bullet journal and I will be sure to check out yours on Thursday! Thank you for stopping by Lauren!

  5. Awesome that you guys switched to WordPress, makes it easier for me to follow and the theme looks great! I need to get to The Bone Witch, I have a copy sitting on my shelves waiting to be read. The Heart Forger looks and sounds so good! I can’t get over how gorgeous the cover is.

As for what I’m reading, I just finished up An Enchantment of Ravens and some poetry. I’m currently reading See All the Stars and going to be picking up American Panda soon.

  6. Restore Me is one that I need and I didn’t even know she was writing another book for this series. I’m on Spring Break now and I plan to rest. Have a great week!

  7. That is the cutest dragon! <3
We don't have Spring Break over here, but we have the Easter Holidays coming up in a week.
    I've been reading Middlemarch – it's glorious!

    • Thanks! (We love the dragon as much as everyone else does. ^_^)

I guess Easter holidays is kind of like Spring Break? It might be shorter though, I’m not sure. I hope you enjoy your holiday! ๐Ÿ™‚
