That’s right, bookwyrms, you read it correctly.

I don’t normally use explicit language, but I AM HAPPY. *pulls out warm hoodies and snuggles in them for the rest of the semester*

This Week’s Posts

Book Haul

I didn’t buy anything! I’m being a good bookwyrm.

  • Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee (ARC) – I had a really rough Wednesday this week so it felt really nice to get approved for an ARC on Netgalley! I know exactly what I’m doing this Winter Break.
    • I forgot I didn’t add this to my TBR for some reason. Whoops.
  • Dream Keeper by Amber R. Duell (ARC) – I’ve been eyeing this book for awhile and omg the cover is so pretty. Then again, Parliament House makes PHENOMENAL covers all the time – I’m always mindblown by them.

Reading Life

I am having a rough reading week too for some reason – every book I’ve been reading have been on the DNF radar except for one. Maybe I’m burning out, don’t like the book but I don’t know what’s going on and my latest DNF is Death by the River. I did finish Forest of a Thousand Lanterns despite struggling to get through the first half and I want book two to find out what happens next.

I’m still continuing with Crane by Stacey Rourke, who I know won’t let me down (at least, I have high hopes for not letting me down) and The Scarlet Sisters for my school project. Speaking of school…

Real Life

It’s about that time where I probably let all my comments sit and occasionally blog hop, so don’t mind me if I end up falling behind like I usually do. I’m going to be surprised if I survive. I just realized this will be my last week before everything begins to be due and let’s be honest: I don’t think I’ve started with anything except for a few. This always bites me. 😭😭😭

It’s also my last full week before I get a full load of classes at 15 credits rather than 9 credits. This also made me realize… I think I’m going too fast and I might have to graduate early after all, which isn’t exactly my plan… but I do get a much lighter workload later? This is a good thing? Maybe?

Tell me about your week, bookwyrms! Is it cold for you yet if you’re in the northern hemisphere? Are you in school as well? Do you like wearing hoodies?

Sophia started blogging in February 2012 for the hell of it and is surprisingly still around. She has a GIF for nearly everything, probably listens to too much K-Pop and is generally in an existential crisis of sorts (she's trying her best). In 2020, she graduated with a Bachelor's in Communications and minor in Women's Studies. More of her bookish reviews and K-pop Roundups can be found at The Arts STL.

  1. Yessss, hoodie weather! I’m so excited it finally got cooler here in nyc! I was worried we’d end up going straight from summer to winter with no fall, but it’s here finally!

  2. We finally got some fall like weather but nothing so cool as hoodie weather. Sorry about your reading slump and I hope you find something that holds your interest. Enjoy your hoodie!

    • Aww, well, I hope you’ll get more fall weather as the year progresses towards the end! As for my reading, I think I might have found something, but we’ll see if this will hold until the end of the book.

  3. I’m so glad the weather is finally cooling off too! I’m so done with Summer!

Sorry to hear you’ve been in sort of a book reading slump. I hate it when that happens. Hope you find one to knock your socks off soon. Happy reading and thanks for visiting my blog! 🙂

    • I was done with summer the moment the highest and hottest of weathers hit! Though I might be done with cold weather as well because apparently we’ve skipped from 60 degrees to 40 degrees? No clue how that happened, but I guess that’s Missouri.

I hope so as well! So far the one I’m currently reading is doing a good job (at least in humor).

  4. Ha ha yeah it’s hoodie season here too- it’s been COLD this week. I wanted a cooldown but yeesh- couldn’t it have been gradual? Still I kinda like it. 🙂

Glad to see Hull Metal Girls was good- I had my eye on that one. Looks fun!

    • Oh, you too? I wanted a gradual one as well, but I’m not really complaining (aside from the fact I didn’t even get the chance to tuck away my shorts before all this cold weather came rushing in).

Hullmetal Girls was a joy to read, and I hope you’ll get the chance to read and enjoy it as well, Greg!

  5. Don’t worry about blog comments, you’re a a busy one with classes. Hoodies are so cozy, love hoodie weather. Have a great week and hopefully you’ll find a book that will get you out of your slump. Have a lovely week.

  6. It’s cold and wet where I am! Has been since September and I’m loving it. I love this time of year and snuggling up with the jumpers, hoodies and cardigans… 🙂

I feel you with the reading slump. I’m in a complete funk at the moment and struggling to find anything that I want to read or holds the interest. 🙁

    • Since September! Lucky, I wish I had some coolness last month, but alas, it was HOT and scorching for most of the month and didn’t exactly begin to die down until a few weeks ago.

Sorry to hear you’re in a reading slump as well – I hope you’ll be able to find a good book soon, Nicci!

  7. It’s FINALLY sweater weather is my battle cry this weekend. It was hot for far too long. I like the cooler temperatures so much!!! Good luck with school. The middle and end of the semesters are always tough, but I believe in you. =) I hope your reading picks up too. There is nothing worse than a run of DNFs. Boo!

  8. Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough reading week. I have to admit, I’ve been ill and struggled to keep up with blog commenting in a way I’d like to have, and usually do. We’ve all been there. Hope you have less DNF this week coming!

Here’s my Sunday Wrap Up Post. Hope you can drop by!

Good luck with school! It will fly by! And yes, it’s cold and pretty miserable here in the UK too!

  9. Just started feeling cool here yesterday, and I love it! Had to break out a coat for the first time. Maybe now the leaves will start turning. Good luck with school!

  10. I also didn’t buy anything! We’re both being good bookworms xD and I have been going through a lot of DNFs as well. It’s so interesting that you can graduate earlier – over here, almost all classes are fixed and you don’t get to choose what you take and what you don’t. So everyone graduates at the same time, except of course unless they fall behind xD

  11. I’ve been super slacking on my blog hopping as well… I use Feedly to keep track and I was so determined to comment on ALL the posts I had missed… but I just went through and picked out the ones that jumped out at me and maked the rest as read 🙁 I just don’t have enough time.

  12. I want to bust out my hoodies and jackets! It’s nearly 90 degrees today, but it’s supposed to cool off later this week. I think the high for Tuesday is 50 degrees! I will definitely curl up in a hoodie then.

I hope you have a lovely week!

  13. We are not yet at the hoodie weather. But we are nearing. I am as excited as you are, and I can’t wait for it. I think it is alright to slow down a bit once in a while. I feel crash and burn out is lot better than fading out into the oblivion right?

  14. I like hoodies, but what I’m really excited about is knits. I can finally wear my sweaters, cowls, mitts, and handknit socks again. Yay!

Good luck with the rest of your semester. I don’t think I could have managed a blog when I was in college, so I’m always amazed by people who do.

And Dragon Pearl? Cool! I was hoping to get that one, but didn’t get approved. I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

    • *sniffs* You’re in CA – come over here and you’ll get hoodie weather plus strange. And by strange, I mean make sure you have a closet in your car – this weather changes randomly!

The first step to not buying books is admitting you have a problem.

  15. It’s spring here at the moment, so one day its shorts, the next it’s a snuggly hoodie. I much prefer hoodie weather though too. It sounds like you’ll be almost doubling your workload with school, hopefully you’ve still got time to relax and take care of yourself. It it becomes too much are you able to drop a few units? I’ve been slack with catching up on others blog posts lately too, I’ll blame the weather though and my lack of hoodie wearing ♡♡♡

    • I suppose in a way I AM doubling my work load, haha. I’m sure I’ll be able to handle 15 credits, though I’ll be fine to graduate on time if I drop a class. I can’t drop below 12 credits, though, as that would make me a part-time student and cause a lot of complications I would rather not have.

  16. I’m with you on the rocky reading patch. Granted, things have been hectic with buying one house, selling another, moving, etc. But even so, I’ve been reading the same book for just shy of two weeks now. And it’s not some heavy fantasy… just a contemporary romance. *sigh* I’m jealous of your cooler weather! Can you send some my way? I’d love a break from the 90 degree days!

    • Oh no… I do hope everything will settle down for you soon, Tanya and your reading will get better.

You can definitely have some of this wintery weather – I hate it, but I don’t hate it, haha.
