Hold up, is it really July?
*looks at calendar*
Gosh darn it, it really is July. (At least I didn’t notice this three weeks into July.)
This Week’s Posts

Book Haul
Sophia
- Echoes by Alice Reeds – islands are involved and also that cover… okay, I forgot why, but I do know it’s a survival story. We’ll see how that goes.
- Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – If only to see how long it’ll take for me to finish the audio version of this one…
Lupe
- Generation Dead (#1), Kiss of Life (#2), and Passing Strange (#3) by Daniel Waters – the covers are what drew me into buying them in the first place. I wonder when I will have the time to read them?
Reading Life
Sophia
I’m still reading Strange the Dreamer, which numerous people are telling me is slow to start but gets good later so… I’ll trek through the book still. Then again, I just started it, but I keep putting it down. Hullmetal Girls by Emily Skrutskie is my next victim.
I finally finished Gemina though. 😅
Lupe
I’m still reading Only Dead on the Inside: A Parent’s Guide to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse by James Breakwell. Like I’ve said… I am reading this SLOWLY.
Real Life
Sophia
Nothing as exciting as going to a bookish event like last week, but I spent most of my time off from work stocking up on Instagram photos for the school year and catching up on comments. I’m almost all caught up! I’m halfway through June currently. (And I intend to stay on track after, but hahaha good luck, Sophia.)
Lupe
Like Sophia, nothing happened other than I got a 91% on my first Calculus exam! WOOT! WOOT! I do have another Calculus exam this upcoming Tuesday. YIKES. I know. I’m so close to the end of the eight weeks. I can ALREADY FEEL IT!
“Gosh darn it, it really is July. (At least I didnβt notice this three weeks into July.)” I have never related to a single sentence more in my life. lmao
And I’m with you, Lupe. The eight weeks are almost over (until the fall semester starts up but shhhhhhh let’s not think about that right now).
Have a good week, guys! π
I know right? Where did July come from? I am looking forward to Echoes big time- based solely on that cover. I mean I read the synopsis, but don’t even remember… but I gotta have it for the cover. And Hullmetal Girls is sounding pretty good too.
Have a super week!
Hullmetal Girls was amazing! Echoes… not so much, unfortunately. I spent more time being confused, to be honest.
Strange the Dreamer was one of my favourite reads this year, Sophia, so I hope it picks up for you and you enjoy it as much as I did.
Well done on such a good result on your calculus exam, Lupe!
Unfortunately, I think I’ve abandoned it – it’s been returned to the library automatically, but I haven’t really had the desire to pick it back up again. π
Yep, it crazy it’s already July!! Y’all have some great books you’re reading. Hope you enjoy them. Have a great week. βΊ
Thanks, Jenea! π
Lupe – Congratulations on your calc success. That is awesome!
Sophia – I hope you are pleased with Obsidio. I thought it was a satisfying conclusion to one of my favorite series.
I can’t believe it’s already July. I also really want to read Obsidio. It sounds amazing. Happy reading!
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
The audio version is amazing – hope you get the chance to read Obsidio and the other books in the series! π
Can’t wait to see what you think of Strange the Dreamer, I’ve heard a lot about it!
Grats on Obsidio, I know you won’t regret π
Yeah, I’m in denial about it being July too…I hope Strange the Dreamer picks up! I bought a paperback copy last week and I’d kind of like to finish in time to decide if I want to pre-order the pretty UK version of the sequel. And congrats on your test score Lupe! Calculus was one of my favorite subjects in high school, even if it was really hard π
I really have no idea how it is July already!! I hope you have a great week.
Thanks, Jennifer!
Iβm never caught up on comments, and Iβm hopeless at Instagram. I try really hard at both, though. I hope you have a good week!
Trying is all you can do! I’m a month behind again, haha.
Great job on the exam, Lupe!
I still need to read Obsidio but I really want to re-read the first two if I can. π

Hope you get to it soon!
I also have Echoes in my TBR can’t wait!
Angelica @ Paperback Princess
Hope you enjoy it!
I need to look at Daniel Waters and omg..i have Obsido and still haven’t read it. For shame! Hope you all have a wonderful month!
Thanks, Kimberly! Hope you had a great July! π
I hope you enjoyed Obsidio, I have mixed feelings about it! I can’t wait to read about how you liked Strange the Dreamer because it has lots of hype!
Tori @ In Tori Lex
Strange the Dreamer is going okay… but not too well, unfortunately. π
I hope you’ll enjoy Obsidio – I haven’t had the courage to get it just yet, I’m very nervous about what might happen in that book haha. I hope you’ll manage to get through Strange The Dreamer and will love it, I only heard amazing things about this book so far π
Happy reading and have a wonderful July! π
Strange the Dreamer takes a good quarter of the narrative to immerse yourself but it’s well worth sticking with, once the two narratives start merging, it really picks up. Great job on your exam Lupe, that’s amazing! I hope you both have a wonderful week of reading and taking time out to rest and relax β₯β₯β₯
I’m always behind on comments and I feel awful about it… Good luck with you Calculus exam, Lupe!
Don’t feel bad about it – at least you’re not the only one out there who’s behind on all the comments (there isn’t enough time in the day for this). I’m sure you’ll catch up one day! <3
Well done on the 91% Lupe! That’s amazing.
I feel like I’m permanently behind on comments but I’ve been better the last couple of weeks than in the month or so before! π
Yay – I’m glad you’re doing better at keeping up on comments! <3
Lupe, congrats on the 91% in calculus! How are you liking Only Dead on the Inside?
Sophie, ready to pick up Obsidio too. Excited to see what happens in the last book. Had problems with my comments and found a lot in spam! Itβs been a pain to climb out that hole!
Have a great July girls! Iβm roasting here in Texas! β₯οΈβ₯οΈ
Dani, hope the weather will be nicer to you soon! Also I get your pain on the comments – trying to get all the legit comments out of the spam… I hope you managed to catch them all!
