Trigger & Content Warnings: self-harm
I have some very mixed feelings to the entire series (overall, because this isn’t going to be a review over each individual book… Plus this is my first series review so bear with me).
Anyways, that little note aside…
Rhodi’s Light is slow and it’s my least favorite book of the entire series. The characters – including the adults were extremely immature (aside from the oldest of the cast). It really just took awhile to get into the book and I found myself stepping back often. However, the concept of the series? I enjoyed it, and it was the ultimate reason why I continued trekking on with Rhodi’s Light.
The second book, Rhodi Rising, is so much better than its predecessor. Rhodi Rising is much more action packed, the characters – all of the ones who were originally immature in the first book – show so much growth from the first to the second, and even throughout the second book.
Finally, the last book in the Rhodi Saga, Rhodi’s Lullaby, goes at slower pace compared to the second book, but it is well worth reading and seeing how the entire series will ultimately wrap up. We also get introduced to new places outside of Crescentia, and it was great learning about the culture in that new place compared to what the Rhodi from Crescentia are used to.
