HAPPY FRIDAY BOOK WYRMS. How is life? Did we miss anything? The world didn’t end, thank goodness.
Itโs been nearly two weeks since we last updated, but weโre back and ready to roll with shiny new changes while doing spring blog cleaning that I never did and should have done ages ago. 11/10 would recommend doing it often.
But first: you probably noticed, Bookwyrming Thoughts looks the same yet different at the same time! WHAT HAPPENED HERE. Well, after more than five years of being on Blogger, I finally made the move to WordPress. It’s been an interesting ride migrating and breaking the blog more than once. (Lupe may or may not have found that tidbit amusing.)
Why the Move?
Let me tell you all the reasons why the move to WordPress was finally made:
- I was planning on spring cleaning the blog
- It’s one of my goals this year
- I might be using this blog (yes this blog) for a class in the near future
- CommentLuv hasn’t been working for IntenseDebate for awhile and it has been so very hard to visit everyone’s blogs
- The Ultimate Book Blogger Plugin from Nosegraze
- I think I’ve outgrown Blogger
- It’s new and shiny and pretty ๐ฎ
I did have to make some sacrifices, though. If you commented on the blog through IntenseDebate, you will no longer find it and no replies will be made. I’ve tried so many times to make the plugin work but I broke it every single time with no success. Besides, WordPress commenting is much nicer, and I don’t have to do some weird sleuthing to find you and give your blog some love because it will be right there.
If you followed me through Google Friend Connect, you will no longer receive updates from me. If you want to continue receiving updates from me, you will have to subscribe via email (you can do that below!) If you were following the blog through MailChimp, we have moved to MailPoet (no worries, we took you with us and placed you in whichever updates you originally signed up for). MailChimp never allowed me to send Fangirl Friday posts singularly and MailPoet allows me to do so, which is a huge win in my opinion.
Edit: GFC might be fixed. I mean… That’s yet to be tested but maybe.
And if you want to receive all future updates through email, feel free to join! We’d love to have you as we go on a new adventure. ๐
What Else Is New?
This one is much more obvious, but we rebranded! We finally got a cute dragon licensed from Shutterstock and it is the cutest creature in the universe. Prepare to see the cute baby dragon make an appearance in future posts. ๐ I’ve always thought a dragon would fit better than an owl, and I’m so happy that finally happened.
WordPress is going to be a new adventure for all of us and we hope you’ll join us as we take on this new experience. (Plus clean up! Bear with us as we slowly go through and update old blog posts because WordPress totally butchered the formatting during the migration…)
Let’s Talk: Do you like the new website look? What are your thoughts on the dragon replacing the owl? Have you subscribed via email yet???
Sophia started blogging in February 2012 for the hell of it and is surprisingly still around. She has a GIF for nearly everything, probably listens to too much K-Pop and is generally in an existential crisis of sorts (she's trying her best). More of her bookish reviews and K-Pop Roundups can be found at The Arts STL.
If you enjoy her posts or found them helpful, consider tipping on KoFi!

Congrats on the move to WordPress. I did that last year, but Ashley from Nose Grave actually did all the work. LOL I think I’d have messed it all up. I really should get her book blogger plug-in. That’ll be on my list for the year of things to do with the blog.
Aw, your dragon is so cute! I love it.

OH MY GOODNESS IT’S SO PRETTY!!! Seriously, I love the new design! I’ve been meaning to switch to WordPress for the last year for exactly the same reasons and I haven’t had time to make the move yet but I’m glad you found success ๐ Also, side note, the dragon is adorable and I love it (have you named her/him??).

Thanks, Laura! I love the new design and dragon as well, though there’s no name (Roberta is saying I should as well, but I’m awful at names). If you choose to move to self-hosted WordPress and have any questions, feel free to ask and I’ll try my best to help! ๐
Sophia Lin says
Thanks! ^_^ It was more complicated at first, but I don’t think I can get it to be more simple.
