It may be April but nature has proven that only they can deem when Spring really begins. Kal tagged me in this last Christmas and since it’s still chilly (and therefore winter) outside, I thought why not take another break from dragging books and do a tag – it’s not like they’re going anywhere.
As bookwyrms, we are prone to doing some not nice bookish things.
It’s bound to happen once in our bookwyrm journey that we have one bookish cringe moment… or maybe three. But we’re going to deny all of those moments.
So in honor of nature saying April Fools to the world, we’re doing the Naughty or Nice Tag!
Merry Christmas, April! let’s go over some fancy rules that I may break a few times in true Sophia fashion:
- Tag and link the person who tagged you
- Tag and link the creator (Jenn)
- Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
- Tag another 10 people
Received an ARC and not reviewed it
That awkward moment when you have too many to choose from, so you close your eyes and hope for the best. Descendants of the Crane by Joan He is one of the many ARCs I have in my hoard that I haven’t gotten around to reviewing, let alone start reading.
Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley
I’ve been a very good bookwyrm and am sleeping at 88%.
Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)
This is the greatest lie I always tell myself. Picking the first one that Goodreads shoves in my face is Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit by Robin Jaye Brown. I have thoughts and my review is never coming soon.
Folded down the page of a book
Um… no. Just no.
Accidentally spilled on a book
Okay, accidents happen! And that one time was an accident! How was I supposed to know the recliner went that far back? 😶
DNF a book this year
#Awestruck by Sariah Wilson is just one of the few I tossed into DNF. A romance book that had a faker relationship than my own, I wasn’t convinced of anything in this book to continue the torture.
Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson, the raccoon is adorable and makes me smile every time I see it. Maybe I’ll get around to it one day.
Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
This is my entire life’s occupation? Procrastination with reading should be my middle name.
Skim read a book
Only if it’s super boring or I’m at a place where the pace is slow.
Completely missed your Goodreads goal
I am super competitive and internally motivated so I like the challenge it gives me.
Borrowed a book and not returned it
I have always returned them… maybe several months later like the procrastinator I am, but it was returned!
Broke a book buying ban
We’re going to break the rules here and go with ever been on a book buying ban. My entire life is a book buying ban so inadvertently yes, yes I have been on one.
Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about
Ha! I am known to do this a lot, I think. But I’m forgetful, so maybe I forgot I even started the review.
Wrote in a book you were reading
The Illiad by Homer but it was for school purposes and I was forced to! I WAS UNDER DURESS.
Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
No, because in the Goodreads Challenge, Every Book Counts!
Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend
I thought I answered this already but, no. Always returned–never in a timely fashion though.
Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
I am a speedy bookwyrm who is good at dodgeball so therefore this must carry to other aspects of my life. I never give them the chance to ask.
Broke the spine of someone else’s book
My mom raised me to return things in better condition than when I received it, so I try really hard to keep it in the best condition that I possibly can.
Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
The story of my life. I did this with my dust jacket of Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer and mentally shot daggers into myself when I accidentally tore it when putting it on my dresser.
Sat on a book accidentally
I SWEAR–IT WASN’T THERE WHEN I CHECKED!
Naughty Meter: 11/20
Slightly naughty but not by much!
Is the weather getting along in your area? Is nature fooling you into thinking it’s a different season? Have you ever forgotten to write a review?
I have a confession…
This was really entertaining to do, actually, because… I AM NOT SOPHIA!
HAHA, Happy April Fool’s from Sam over at Fictionally Sam!
Cool points and cookie emojis to everyone who finds/comments on all the blog posts that participated in this little shenanigans! Bonus points to those who can guess at least one of us before the big reveal!
Sophia started blogging in February 2012 for the hell of it and is surprisingly still around. She has a GIF for nearly everything, probably listens to too much K-Pop and is generally in an existential crisis of sorts (she's trying her best). More of her bookish reviews and K-Pop Roundups can be found at The Arts STL.
If you enjoy her posts or found them helpful, consider tipping on KoFi!

“procrastireading” is such a big mood, it’s honestly a way of life. as is forgetting to write a review then realizing you forgot what the book is even about. also also, I swear books have an ability to materialize on your seat between checking and actually sitting – like the thumbtack in The Incredibles. (coincidence? I THINK NOT.)

Um…why is the “confession” showing at the bottom of the update email? Was it supposed to? Either way…eh. I fell for it. Because of course LOL. It was so well done. Unless it’s a double prank because “someone” is pretending to be pretending…
I am so well-behaved. I do write in books (WITH A PENCIL OK) and occasionally fold their pages, but nothing else, I swear. I mean, sometimes it takes me ages to fully review a book I wrote a mini for on GR. A minor crime, I think.
BTW, spring is being a cruel stepmother here. I mean, it’s sunny and everything, but every single day this cold wind blows and…heck, I hate wind no matter what, but does it have to be cold? I’m freezing here.

Such a fun tag! I’m not the biggest when it comes to DNFing either, but it does happen every once in a while. I had to do it for The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. I’ve loved all of Stiefvater’s other books but I just couldn’t get through it!

Oh gosh, reading when I should be doing pretty much ANYTHING else is something I’m always doing. LOL I think it’s just part of a bookworm’s DNA; it’s not our fault. The weather is wonky here; it’s so cold today. I think it’s supposed to warm up as the week goes on though so yay!!!

A romance book that had a faker relationship than my own, I wasn’t convinced of anything in this book to continue the torture.< I cackled longer and more than I should have at that answer. I remember one time I borrowed a book that it got left under a wet towel when said towel flew out of its bag in the car, I was so freaked out and felt so guilty I bought a new one without telling my friend and replaced it (that lasted five minutes before I broke down, begged for forgiveness and confessed we've been friends since we were 8 this happened when we were 13, she has no recollection of this but I get to relive the terror of it all the time).
I love that you don't give people the chance to ask, true definition of a speedy bookwyrm! Loved your answers I chuckled so much reading this and related so much lol

So basically you are nice with a pinch of a wild side? BIG MOOD to sitting on books and using reading as a procrastination tool. YA GIRL IS NOTORIOUS FOR THOSE. Also I think I’ve blocked out our time with #awestruck.
wow. a true moment.

88% on NetGalley is amazing! I’m at 63% and have not picked up any of the other ARCs yet, but hopefully soon! (by soon, I mean today(or tomorrow(or the day after that)))
And never returning books on time is one thing I’m pretty experienced with too… Just ask anyone around me who reads and they’ll sigh shake their head and say, ‘She’ll give it back in 2 days or in 2 years’.

Haha, great post!
I live in a coastal pocket climate where the temperatures rarely deviate much. Like year-round diff is 50s H to 70s H. Go 10 minutes inland and all bets are off.

I am laughing so hard right now, especially considering you are doing a Christmas tag in April. Gotta stay on brand! Also the recliner thing has happened to me (minus the spilling), I fell completely out of the chair backwards because it reclined way further than I thought once.
This post was great, better late than never (much like this comment)! xoxo
